ITINERARY

DAY 01: DELHI / CHANDIGARH – SHIMLA
Drive from Delhi to Shimla (343 kms, 10 hrs) arrive Shimla. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at Shimla.

DAY 02: SHIMLA CITY TOUR
One of the most popular hill Resorts of the North. The town is situated at an altitude of 6810 ft, initially chosen as a sanatorium for invalid European officers, but soon developed into a big hill town and became the summer capital of the country. There are ample opportunities in Shimla for sports. Riding in Jakhu, Tennis and Squash at the club racing and Cricket at Annandale, Golf at Naldera and winter skiing at Kufri. Dinner and Overnight at hotel.

DAY 03: SHIMLA - MANALI
Drive from Shimla to Manali (280 kms . 10 hrs) Arrive Manali Transfer to hotel. Dinner and Overnight at hotel.

DAY 04: MANALI - LOCAL SIGHT SEEING
Walk through town visiting newly constructed Buddhist Monastery. Hadimba Devi temple-It is small temple situated in the dense forest is very interesting . Hadimba is said to be the wife of Bhima from the epic of Mahabharata. Vashisth, it is an extremely picturesque little place clinging to the steep hill side. On the way up to the village you come upon the Vashist hot baths where a natural sulphur spring is piped into a modern bath -house. Dinner and Overnight at Manali

DAY 05: MANALI - ROHTANG PASS
Full day tour of Rohtang Pass The majesty of the mountains and the glaciers can be seen at their best, you have next two hours to enjoy this snowy haven. Take a sledge ride down the slopes, try your luck climbing the little snow hills. On you’re descents to Manali, halt at the Rahalla falls and Solang Valley. The Magnificent views and natural beauty are a never-ending source of delight. Also halt at Marhi, Ralha falls, Nehru Kund. Return to the hotel for Overnight stay at Manali.

DAY 06: TOUR END
Drive back to New Delhi (570 kms, 14 hours). Drop at Railway Station / Airport. TOUR END

Shimla was annexed by the British in 1819 after the Gurkha War. At that time it was known for the temple of Hindu Goddess Shyamala Devi. The Scottish civil servant Charles Pratt Kennedy built the first British summer home in the town in 1822.Lord Amherst, the Governor-General of Bengal from 1823 to 1828, set up a summer camp here in 1827, when there was only one cottage in the town, and only 'half a dozen' when he left that year. There were more than a hundred within ten years.[4]Shimla, or Simla as it was called until recently, caught the eye of Lord William Bentinck, the Governor-General of Bengal from 1828 (later of India, when the title was created in 1833) to 1835. In a letter to Colonel Churchill in 1832 he wrote(5)Simla is only four days march from Loodianah, is easy of access, and proves a very agreeable refuge from the burning plains of Hindoostaun.

After India gained independence in 1947, a limited autonomy was conferred to New Delhi and was administered by a Chief Commissioner appointed by the Government of India. In 1956, Delhi was converted into a union territory and eventually the Chief Commissioner was replaced by a Lieutenant Governor. The Constitution (Sixty-ninth Amendment) Act, 1991 declared the Union Territory of Delhi to be formally known as National Capital Territory of Delhi.[4] A system of diarchy was introduced under which the elected Government was given wide powers, excluding law and order which remained with the Central Government.
