About Jammu & Kashmir The Mughals aptly called Kashmir ‘Paradise on Earth’ where they journeyed across the hot plains of India, to the valley’s cool environs in summer. Here they laid, with great love and care, Srinagar’s many formal, waterfront gardens, now collectively known as the Mughal Gardens. Anecdotes of four and five centuries ago describe their love for these gardens, and the rivalries that centred around their ownership. They also patronized the development of art & craft among the people of Kashmir, leaving behind a heritage of exquisite artisanship among thes people and making the handicrafts of the land prized gifts all over the world. Kashmir is a land where myriad holiday ideas are realised. In winter, when snow carpets the mountains, there is skiing, tobogganing, sledge-riding, etc. along the gentle slopes. In spring and summer, the honey-dewed orchards, rippling lakes and blue skies beckon every soul to sample the many delights the mountains and valleys have to offer. Golfing at 2,700 m above the sea, water-skiing in the lakes and angling for prized rainbow trout, or simply drifting down the willow fringed alleys of lakes in shikaras and living in gorgeous houseboats are some of the most favoured ones.

ITINERARY

Day 1 :Srinagar
On arrival at Srinagar, you will be met by our representative and transferred to Houseboat/Hotel. Afternoon ready for an excursion to the celebrated Mughal -Nishat Bagh and Shalimar Bagh. Nishat Bagh (Abode of pleasure) was built by Asif Khan, brother of Empress Noorjehan in 1632 AD. Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love) was built by Jehangir for his wife Noor Jehan. Situated on the bank of Dal Lake, these gardens are overlooked by picturesque Zabarwan Mountains. The distance from Srinagar to these gardens is about 12 and 15 kms respectively. Enroute visit the carpet-weaving factory.Enjoy an enchanting boat ride in the serene waters of Dal Lake in the evening. Stay overnight in the Houseboat/Hotel.

Day 2 :Srinagar-Sonmarg-Srinagar
Full day excursion to Sonmarg which is the most beautiful drive from Srinagar. On the way we stop at many beautiful spots. Continue drive to Sonmarg 2690 Mtrs (Meadow of Gold). One can ride on horse(at your own cost) to visit to Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains round the year and Sonmarg is known as Gateway of Ladakh. Overnight at Hotel in Srinagar.

Day 3 :Srinagar – Gulmarg {56 KMS ~ 2 Hrs}
After breakfast drive to Gulmarg (Meadow of Flowers) 2730 Mts. above sea level. The distance of 60 kms will be covered in about 2 hrs. Gulmarg has one of the best Ski slopes in the world and highest golf course of the world with 18 holes. One can also have the view of Nanga Parbhat if weather permits. The view enroute from Tangmarg to Gulmarg is fascinating. One can also have a short trek upto Khilangmarg which can be covered in about 3 to 4 hrs. Chair Lifts for mountain ride are also available. Overnight at Gulmarg in Hotel .

Day 4 :Gulmarg – Pahalgam {140 KMS ~ 4 ½ Hrs.}
Enjoy pony ride or Gondola ride (rope way) to Khillanmarg and Afarwhat (at your own cost). Dinner & overnight in the Gulmarg.

Day 5 :Pahalgam
Leave Gulmarg after having early breakfast and drive to Pahalgam or the Valley of Shepherds via Srinagar. Drive through the eye-catching Saffron fields, visit Awantipura ruins, an 1100 years old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantivarman. The total distance of about 140 km will be covered in about 4 hrs. After reaching Pahalgam, you will be transferred to the hotel. Enjoy the lunch and dinner and spend overnight in the hotel at Pahalgam.

Day 6 :Pahalgam – Srinagar
In the morning enjoy the natural beauty of Pahalgam. Set amidst soaring mountains, glistening glaciers, gushing silvery streams and dense pine and cedar forests, Pahalgam offers many options for walks, pony trekking, fishing and camping. Enjoy the valley of Pahalgam ,Local sighteeing can be taken by the local jeep –Betab Valley ,Chandanwari and Aru (at your own cost). Arrive and proceed to your hotel, Dinner & overnight at the Pahalgam.

Day 7 :Depart Srinagar
Morning after breakfast transfer in time to the airport to catch the flight for onward destination.

The valley of Gulmarg, a large meadow about 3-sq-kms in area, stands at 2,730 metres, 56-km south west of Srinagar . The name means â€˜Meadow Of Flowersâ€™ and in the spring itâ€™s just that, a rolling meadow dotted with countless colourful Bluebells, Daisies, Forget Me Notâ€™s and Buttercups. The valley itself is about 3-km long and up to a km wide.

Situated at the confluence of the streams flowing from Sheshnag Lake and the Lidder river, Pahalgam (2,130 m) was once a humble shepherd's village with breathtaking views. Now it is Kashmir's premier resort, cool even during the height of summer when the maximum temperature does not exceed 25 degree celcius. A number of hotels and lodges cater to all preferences and budgets, from luxurious hotels to unpretentious trekkers' lodges. The most beautiful of these is the huge, undulating meadow of Baisaran, surrounded by thickly wooded forests of pine. Hajan, on the way to Chandanwari, is an idyllic spot for a picnic. Filmgoers will recognize it instantly as it has been the location of several movie scenes. Pahalgam has within it no fewer than eight tiny villages, one of which is Mamal. There is a Shiva temple here, generally considered to be Kashmir's oldest existing temple, dating to the 5th century.
